Blue cheese on shelves

12:31pm Friday 3rd September 2010

SHEPHERDS Purse, the family run Thirsk-based cheesemaker, will supply its multi-award winning Yorkshire Blue to more than 400 Morrisons stores from September.

Traditionally handcrafted, the 100pc cow’s milk cheese will be available in 180g portions on the Market Street delis. The contract is worth a six-figure sum annually.

Katie Bell, Shepherds Purse sales and marketing director, said: “We have worked with Morrisons regionally for many years and have featured as one of the supermarket’s Local Heroes, so we are delighted to introduce our handmade Yorkshire Blue cheese nationwide to customers.”

Danny Clee, buyer for Morrisons, described Yorkshire Blue as “a world-class cheese”.
